The position of Consumer Safety Officer falls under the 0696 occupational series. To qualify for this position at grade GS-11/12, you must meet Time-in-Grade requirements by 11:59 pm EST on 10/09/2019. In order to qualify for this Consumer Safety Officer, GS-0696 position you must meet the following: BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
Possess a bachelor’s or graduate/higher level degree in quality assurance or a related degree that included at least 30 semester hours in one or a combination of the following: consumer laws, biological sciences, food science, chemistry, pharmacy, physical sciences, food technology, nutrition, medical science, engineering, epidemiology, veterinary medical science, legal investigations, law enforcement, or related scientific fields that provided knowledge directly related to consumer safety officer work. The 30 semester hours may include up to 8 semester hours in statistics, or course work that included the principles, theory, or practical application of computers or computer programming. In addition to meeting the basic education requirement listed above for the Consumer Safety Officer 0696 you must also meet the specialized experience qualifications listed below for the grade you wish to be considered: To qualify for the GS-11, you must have one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal Service that included applying medical drug product laws and regulations to assist in the analyses of scientific or regulatory data; assisting in reviewing and evaluating compliance data for efficacy and preparing reports on scientific or regulatory findings. (This experience must be documented in your resume).
Have 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree. To qualify for the GS-12, you must have one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal Service that included applying medical product laws and regulations to conduct analyses of scientific or regulatory data; reviewing and evaluating compliance data for efficacy and safety; preparing reports on scientific or regulatory study findings and making recommendations.
